Joe is a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor in the state of Arizona.  He has a Master's Degree in Human Relations from Northern Arizona University.  He is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor under the Arizona Board for Certification of Addiction Counselors and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist under the Arizona Trauma Institute. He utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach that utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness based stress reduction, reality therapy, logos therapy, somatic exercises, multichannel eye movement integration, philosophical discussion, and Prior to practicing therapy he was an airborne combat arms officer in the United States Army serving in the capacity of platoon leader, scout platoon leader, executive officer, team leader, and company commander.  He has served on both active duty and reserve components of the military. He was also a law enforcement officer that served in the capacity of patrol, street crimes, and special response team (SRT) roles. He has been a therapist, trauma therapist, clinical supervisor, and clinical director of behavioral health, mental health, trauma focused, and addiction centers. He currently serves as a clinical director of both a community health agency and outpatient behavioral health clinical in Phoenix in conjunction with private practice. He is currently completing his doctorate degree in professional counseling and is anticipated to graduate in the Spring of 2025. Outside of therapy he enjoys Spending time with his wife, archery, jiu-jitsu, hiking, CrossFit, hot/cold therapy, sensory deprivation, reading, studying philosophy (especially stoicism), playing chess, and playing with his German Shepherd Sage.
